Tips on finding the perfect wedding venue in Kent
Added by Fleur, 24th November 2018
At Hayne House, we understand finding the perfect wedding venue can be quite a task.
If you are just engaged, there are a vast number of wedding venues across the county of Kent alone. Wedding venues come in all shapes, sizes, and styles, and the search for the perfect one might seem a daunting task.
What should you do when there are so many wedding venues to choose from?
Because there are so many different types of wedding venues in Kent to consider – from hotels, and garden marquees to manor houses and then the need to book viewings, we recommend that you need to allocate a good proportion of your wedding planning time to finding your dream wedding venue.
What should you do first?
At Hayne House we believe the first thing to do is to sit down with each other and discuss what is important to you both. It might be that you want Aunty Clara to come from Australia, and she will only fly during November to January.
What are you prepared to compromise?
It might be that holding your wedding on or around a certain date is important to you, but we always recommend a degree of flexibility – just in case your dream venue doesn’t have the date available. Or it might be that you want a private wedding at an exclusive venue that enables you to eradicate the need for hotels. And then there are other issues – you may want a marquee wedding but are worried about the noise if it is windy, how would it be heated etc?
A fun way to narrow down your list
We think a fun thing to do is to pick three words or phrases that sum up what you are looking for, that could include:
- All-under one roof
- Al-fresco dining
- beautiful garden
- a season
- Spring wedding
- Summer wedding
- Autumn wedding
- Winter wedding
- Formal or informal
- Something different
- Unique wedding venue
Once you have identified your key words
Then when you enter your search criteria for your wedding venue on-line it enables you to start to narrow down the number of venues you want to visit. We recommend the average number to visit is around three. Whether you put your preferred wedding venue first or last, is up to you.
Question, Question and Question some more
Once you have narrowed your search criteria we recommend going online and putting together a list of questions to ask the wedding venue co-ordinator on the day of your show around. This is a good way to compare all the wedding venues you have visited.
Work out your numbers!
Finally having an idea of your wedding guest numbers can help. It’ll be even better if you can break them down into day guests, evening guests and children. Even if you don’t know their ages at this early start of your wedding venue hunt!
Don’t blow your budget
This information should enable the venue to give you a quote before you attend a viewing, so that you know you are not going to go over budget right at the beginning of your new journey together.
So, how do you know when you’ve hit the jackpot and found ‘the one’, the perfect venue?
It can be a bit of a surprise finding your perfect venue. As we have said before, you might think that you want a marquee wedding but when you visit one you find the pros outweigh the cons.
A marquee alternative
For instance, you might want a Winter Wedding and yet marquees are quite seasonal – i.e. they are at their best in the spring and autumn. Weather can be a downside of having a marquee wedding as everything to do with the wedding is essentially outside and if it rains, boy can it be loud inside. Marquees can be draughty, and on a windy day they rattle and shake.
The perfect one
Here at Hayne House, we believe that the brand-new purpose-built, all under one roof Orangery, launched in April 2018, can be described as perfect or The One!
But why the Orangery?
Because we can offer you something contemporary, different, flexible, private and versatile. A totally unique wedding venue that enables you to dine al-fresco like a marquee, looking out at the beautiful gardens in a relaxed way, to share with your nearest and dearest. We built The Orangery in Kent with your needs and wants in mind with a little bit of the pros of a marquee wedding included as ‘bottled magic!
